After a year and a half of negotiations and preparations, we are pleased to announce the formation of a newly federally incorporated entity called the Canadian Board of Examiners for Professional Surveyors (CBEPS). The five member parties of this Board are: the Association of British Columbia Land Surveyors, the Alberta Land Surveyors’ Association, the Saskatchewan Land Surveyors’ Association, the Association of Manitoba Lands Surveyors, and the Association of Canada Lands Surveyors. The four Western Provinces mentioned above have operated the Western Canadian Board of Examiners since 1981. With the formation of CBEPS the WCBELS will cease to operate and, effective May 8th, 2006, all persons who are candidates for a WCBELS Certificate of Completion ill become candidates of CBEPS and their records will be transferred to CBEPS. What does this mean to you as a candidate? In terms of your studying and writing examinations nothing will change. The office location and fax number for CBEPS will not change although there will eventually be a new telephone number, email address and website. The most important change is that when you earn your Certificate of Completion it will be issued by CBEPS. If you have questions about the change outlined above, please contact the CBEBS office at 613-274-7115 or email info@cbeps-cceag.ca Yours truly, James Watling, MLS, CLS Chair, CBEPS |
